Concrete demolition is the process of breaking down or removing concrete structures, sections, or elements — from a single wall or slab to a full structural removal. It’s needed for renovations, structural modifications, removal of damaged or unsafe concrete, and clearing space for new construction. There are two broad approaches:
Conventional demolition uses hydraulic and pneumatic breakers to break concrete apart directly — fast, but with more noise, dust, and vibration, and less control over exactly where the concrete breaks.
Controlled demolition combines pre-cutting (with diamond saws or wire saws) to isolate the section being removed, then careful breaking or lifting of that pre-cut section — reducing vibration, protecting the surrounding structure, and keeping the process predictable from start to finish. This is the approach we use as standard, because it’s the same precision-first method behind our core cutting, wall sawing, and slab sawing work.
Why scanning comes first: breaking into concrete without knowing what’s inside it risks striking live rebar, post-tension cables, or electrical and plumbing lines — all of which turn a routine demolition into a costly, dangerous problem. A GPR scan before demolition removes that risk before the first breaker touches the concrete.
