GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) concrete scanning is a non-destructive method of seeing inside concrete before you cut, drill, or core into it. A radar antenna is passed over the surface of a wall, slab, or column, sending signals into the concrete and reading what bounces back — rebar, post-tension cables, conduits, plumbing lines, and voids all show up on the live display. Unlike X-ray scanning, GPR requires no evacuation of the surrounding area, produces results in real time, and involves no radiation risk, which is why it has become the standard pre-cutting inspection method on construction and renovation sites across Dubai.
Why scanning matters: cutting or drilling into concrete without scanning first risks striking structural rebar (weakening the building), post-tension cables (a serious safety hazard), or live electrical and plumbing lines (costly damage and downtime). A five-minute scan prevents all three.
